Ria Van Landeghem is a long-distance runner and former Olympic athlete. In addition, she is active in the art world as a curator and used to be a teacher at the KASK.
The former Belgian record holder for marathon from Sint-Niklaas was excluded from the 1988 Seoul Games after a false allegation of doping abuse. That same year, she was acquitted on appeal due to procedural errors and violation of the athlete's rights but the rehabilitation itself did not follow until 30 years later. After a new start, she broke the marathon world record in the over-60 category in 2019.
She is currently working on a film about power structures in the sports world.
